I thought long and hard yesterday about this because I got so many comments. So here it is.
I have seen the dark side of loneliness, isolation, and human cruelty—but I have also seen kindness arrive on empty roads, love survive disappointment, and strangers become protectors.
There was a time in my life when darkness was all I could see. But over time, I learned it was healthier to look for the light. And when I did, I found there was so much more light than darkness in my life.
I can testify to that, having seen both.
I do not write because life has been untouched by sorrow. I write because, even with sorrow, goodness still rises.
Some people fear too much because of the darkness they imagine, hear about, or read about. I understand that fear. But I also know there is another side to life: the helping hand, the family table, the faithful prayer, the unexpected rescue, the laughter that returns after tears.
That is why I write about legacy, love, faith, and connection.
Not because darkness does not exist—
but because light does too,
in abundance.
